The clean room attire is require to minimize the release of particles generating from the personnel working inside the clean room.

The choice of the cleanroon clothing is based on 3 key factors….1)Product sensitivity, 2)Classification of the cleanroom and 3)Safety.

There is a choice of selecting the launderable or the disposable garment.

There are 3 main parts of the clothing covering required for the cleanroom personnel….they are the head, body and foot covering.

The head covering could be partial or full covering. The bouffant cap is example of partial covering where it's mainly covering the hair.  The combination of hood and bouffant cap will covers the hair, ear, nect and the side faces. Beside that, the full face covering (e.g. with face mask) covers the nose and mouth is recommended to minimize particulate through breathing by operator.

The body covering can be partial or full covering.  The laboratory coat or smock is the example of partial covering where it permit the release of particles from the operator's lower leg. For rooms where the clean area are the benches and flow hoods, these particles are usually excluded by laminar flow air and do not have significant impact to the analysis. The coverall is the example of full body covering require in a higher class clean room where it fit snugly at the neck and wrist.

The foot covering can also be partial or full covering. The shoe cover provide the partial covering which cover only the shoes but not the interface between foot and ankle or leg. It is The full foot covering would be the boots with the higher up coverage to the leg and it is recommended for high cleanliness area and where the hazard exist.
