As a custom laminator, we supply cleanroom contractors with aluminum honeycomb core panels laminated both sides to painted aluminum. These coatings are anti-microbial and washable.  Some rooms out there use vinyl surfaces which we can also laminate to various cores.  I am curious if there is any advantage to PVC surfaces besides lower cost.  Is there anybody out there in the cleanroom business who could comment on this?

Note that PVC can have a number of additives including various heat stabilizers like tin compounds that have trace volatility, plasticizers, and other additives. For a few very high tech industries, such as semiconductors, lasers, disk drive heads or media, the outgassing compounds might be of some concern. Likely, this trace issue will not affect most other industries.
